Every Nalu Gates Maui gate is built at our shop in Haiku and installed by us, anywhere on the island. Whether you need a new driveway gate, an automatic opener on a gate you already have, or a repair on one that has stopped closing, the work is the same from Paia to Hana. What changes from one area to the next is the drive, and on the far sides of the island that shows up as a travel surcharge and a longer visit.
Upcountry Maui: Haiku, Paia, Makawao, Pukalani and Kula
Upcountry is home base. Our fabrication shop is in Haiku, so visits to Haiku, Paia, Makawao, Pukalani and Kula have no travel surcharge and fit in a single 90-minute slot. Many properties up here are larger lots, ranches and farms, where a gate gets heavy daily use at the end of a long driveway. We build steel ranch and slide gates for that kind of work, sometimes with a solar opener, and hardwood gates for homes that want something warmer. Rain on the windward side is hard on hinges and openers, which is why galvanized steel and regular maintenance matter here.

Central Maui is a short drive from the shop: visits to Wailuku, Kahului, Waiehu and Waiheʻe have no travel surcharge and fit in a single 90-minute slot. Here we install driveway and pedestrian gates for homes, and gate systems for business properties, where a gate can open and close many times a day. For busy sites we recommend an automatic slide or cantilever gate built for constant use, plus a maintenance visit now and then to keep the operator and hardware working smoothly.

South Maui is dry, sunny and close to the ocean, so salt air is what wears a gate down. For homes in Kihei, Wailea and Makena we work in galvanized and stainless steel, which hold up much better than bare steel near the coast. Visits here have no travel surcharge and fit in a single 90-minute slot. If an older gate is showing rust or an opener has started to struggle, a diagnostic visit tells you whether it needs a repair or a replacement.
Book a visit in South MauiWest Maui: Lahaina, Kaanapali, Napili and Kapalua
West Maui is the longest regular drive from Haiku. Visits to Lahaina, Kaanapali, Napili and Kapalua add a $50 travel surcharge and take 3 hours of our day, so we book them as back-to-back time slots. The coast here is much like South Maui, and we use the same galvanized and stainless steel. We build and install new gates and openers in West Maui, and we service gates that are already in place.

Hana is the farthest point we cover. Visits here add a $50 travel surcharge and take about 4½ hours of our day, which fills most of a morning or an afternoon. Because the trip is long, tell us as much as you can when you book: what the gate is doing, and the opener brand if you know it. Heavy rain on this side of the island is one more reason we build with rust-resistant steel and solid hinges.

- Gate Diagnostics, $200, Monday – Friday. We come out, check the gate and the opener, and tell you what is wrong. Repairs are quoted separately.
- Gate Service & Maintenance, $250, Mondays & Wednesdays.
